Benchtop Fitting
The final part of your install is generally your benchtop fitting, and to start the process off its always best to try and dry fit your tops and identify any areas that may need your attention.
Obvious problems could be your walls running out of square that require scribing to your walls from the back, with the best tool being an electric plane if you have one handy.
Once your dry fit is perfect we can move to next step of the installation.
Its important to seal any joins you may have in your benchtops using silicone, this will ensure no water damage can occur down the track. Ensure you have the join completely sealed prior to tightening.
If possible have benchtop placed so the join is safely and easy accessible underneath the join slightly off the cabinets. Loosely place your toggle bolts in their positions into the pre drilled cutouts underneath leaving about a 5-7 mm gap for the silicone to be applied into the join
Apply silicone generously into the joint paying particular attention that the top edge is sufficiently covered.
Now its time to slowly tighten your toggle bolts from underneath and seal the join as you tighten bolts.
Now just before you tighten completely remove silicone excess and using a block of wood and rubber mallet tap along the join to ensure the benchtop edge is lining up on both sides.
Final step would be to tighten your toggle bolts and wipe away any excess silicone left behin
Now we move the benchtop into position ready for fixing to our cabinetry.
You may notice at the rear of your cabinets are white benchtop fittings that secure the rear and at the front is a cabinet rail which we drill through into the benchtop to secure the front edge.
Pre drill the front edge using a 2-3mm drill bit and once in position use your 28mm screws to secure your benchtops into place.
