When installing cabinets it's always preferred to pre drill your screws prior to inserting the fixing to avoid any damage so you will need a 2-4mm drill bit for this, and later again you will need a 5mm to fit your handles. If you have ordered laminate benchtops a 10-12mm drill will also be required for your sink and cooktop cut outs.
Let's talk about cabinet installation fixings, and to be honest it's quite simple using three simple screw sizes. Cabinet installation screws are generally not available at your local hardware store so its important you understand the screws that come with your order.
- 28mm Screws are used for joining your cabinets together, fixing end panels and infills or generally anything joining two 16mm panels together as they will not come through the other side.
- 45mm screws are used for joining three 16mm panels together with your barback panels on a kitchen island, also fixing your kickers.
- 65mm screws are mainly only used for fixing your cabinets to wall studs
If you do have solid walls, for example brick you may need to visit your local hardware store to choose the appropriate fixing you are comfortable in using , but ideally a countersunk option is the way to go.
Lastly the pozi drive screws fix perfectly with these white caps in all your myDIY fixings to hide the screw head once you've finished your installation.
