How to Install: Fixed Shelves
A fixed shelf provides structural stability to your wardrobe internals and is supported by two timber cleats. Unlike adjustable shelves, these are provided oversized to ensure a perfect, wall-to-wall fit.
1. Why it’s Oversized
We provide fixed shelves oversized so they can be scribed (trimmed) to the specific contour of your wall. Even if your walls "run out" or are not perfectly square, scribing allows you to eliminate gaps for a professional built-in finish.
2. Using Support Cleats
Fixed shelves sit on two provided timber cleats.
- Placement: Measure and level the height for your cleats based on your custom plan.
- Fixing: Screw the cleats into the wall (or the internal upright) first. The fixed shelf then sits on top of these cleats and is screwed down from the top to secure it in place.
3. Governing the Width
Just like the internal units, the fixed shelf plays a role in "governing the width" of your wardrobe space.
- Pro Tip: Before final fixing, ensure your internal uprights are perfectly plumb. Cutting the fixed shelf to the exact width required will lock the uprights into their correct, parallel position.
Installation Essentials:
- Measure Twice: Measure the width at the front and the back of the shelf space, as walls often taper.
- The Scribe: Use your saw to trim the edge of the shelf to match any wall deviations.
- Clean Finish: By fixing the shelf from the top into the cleats, the screws remain hidden from standard eye level.
