Is myDIY Right for You?

Our wardrobes are custom-built, professional kits—not modular furniture. Before ordering, ensure you are confident with:

  • Scribing: Trimming oversized boards to fit uneven walls/floors.
  • Power Tools: Using a circular saw, drill, and multi-tool.
  • Precision: Using a spirit level to ensure the build is perfectly plumb.

Not 100% confident? Avoid a costly mistake. Our parent company, Packers, offers a full-service check-measure and installation!

Required Tools

  • Drill & Driver: For assembly and fixings.
  • Saw: Mitre or Circular saw with a fine-tooth blade.
  • Level: Essential for vertical and horizontal accuracy.
  • Multi-tool: For cutting cornice and skirting boards to insert panels and tracks etc.
  • Caulking Gun: For final gap fill.

Why are some items provided oversize?

In the real world, ceilings, floors, and walls "run out." We therefore provide the following items at least +100mm oversized so you can cut them to fit your specific space:

  • MDF Floor Plate
  • Top/Bottom Tracks
  • Top Shelves
  • Scribes & Pelmets
  • End Panels

Note: All internal uprights and doors are made-to-measure based on your measurements.

The "Scribe" Rule: If your floor drops 20mm on one side and we provided an End Panel cut exactly to your height measurement, it would be 20mm too short. Oversizing ensures you can cut the board to follow the floor for a gap-free finish.

Installation Methodology

Since every robe is a custom design, we provide the trade methodology rather than a step-by-step manual. You will receive the same "Cut List" that Packers installers use.

The General Order of Operations:

  1. End Panels: Install these first (if your design includes them).
    • Important: Measure the width of your wardrobe exactly as per the cut list. If the end panel is placed incorrectly, your doors will not have the required overlap.
  2. Internal Units: Assemble drawer units and fixed shelf units.
  3. Top Shelf: Install the Top Shelf.
  4. Wall Jambs: Install Wall Jambs.
  5. Tracks: Fit Top and Bottom tracks.
  6. Doors: Install and adjust doors last.
